Would you like to develop your technical skills and work with the latest modern construction materials, such as thermostatic and thermosetting plastics? Then a career in Composites could be for you.

As a Composites engineer, you will be responsible for the construction and repair of all types of vessels from small pleasure craft to large commercial or naval vessels. Composites represent the leading edge of boat construction — building stronger and lighter hulls is the key to performance.

Working in Composites also involves reinforcement of marine composite structures, using glass, carbon and aramid fibres and polyester and epoxy resins. On the engineering side you will be involved in stress/strain analysis and possibly even the design of new composite materials.

Clearly, you will need a high degree of interest in research and chemical analysis to succeed in this highly challenging and rewarding role.
