Would you like to be installing huge 350 horsepower caterpillar engines and taking them out on sea trials? Would you like to be fitting and tweaking drive and steering systems? Every motorboat built relies on the engineering team to install its drive systems and test them for performance and safety.

Once the hull is delivered from the shipbuilders, engineers follow the specifications in the build list, mount the engine or engines in the prepared beds and match them to the running gear. As an engineer, you will attach propellers, rudders, steering and exhaust pipes. You will install the fuel tank, fuel lines and generator.

You could be working on inboard or outboard engines, inboard propeller drive systems, jet drive propulsion systems, cooling systems or clutch assemblies. And the work is fun — just ask an engineer!
