You could approach Boat Builders or Repairers in your area for 'entry level' detailing work and build up your experience on the job.

A New Apprenticeship in Automotive Detailing could provide you with skills that you could transfer to the Boating Industry. You may even begin through the study of vocational courses at school and sometimes companies offer either a school based apprenticeship continuing into a full-time apprenticeship or a school based traineeship preceding a full apprenticeship. You could use Detailing as a springboard for picking up experience in a Fit Out or Refit crew and moving on to other areas of responsibility.

Pay rates for trainees in Fit Out and Refit are determined by Federal and State Awards. Your pay rate will be dependent upon the enterprise activity of your potential employer and you will need to discuss wage rates with them.
