This is a job for someone who loves boats and likes getting their hands dirty working on engines. Whether you already have working skills with car engines or are thinking of starting from the beginning, this is a challenging and interesting job to undertake.

As a Marine Mechanic, you could install or completely overhaul an inboard engine while afloat, or work on the slipway repairing a drive train or replacing a propeller. You will have the variety and challenge of working with 2-stroke or 4-stroke diesel engines, water jets, transmissions, propellers, steering and controls.

You will service or repair both inboard and outboard motors and carry out fault diagnosis of the entire propulsion system. You could also work on the associated mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
