Once you have acquired strong skills in refitting boats, you might like to advance your career and develop management skills. You could become a Refit Coordinator.

As well as managing and building teams, you would liaise with clients, communicate with your team of tradespeople, suppliers and contractors, manage timetables and organise timely delivery of supplies.

Your role will vary widely. You might be overseeing the installation of new electric or electronic systems in a fishing boat, organising repairs to woodwork or upholstery of a cabin cruiser or luxury houseboat, or managing the entire rebuild of an ocean racing yacht.

From Refit Coordination you might eventually become the owner of your own company or be the manager of a slipway, boatyard, dockyard or shipyard. You could also work in a marina environment where your knowledge of fit outs could be utilised in a broader role
