If you are ambitious, people-oriented, and willing to work hard at satisfying the needs of any prospective client, sales may be a role that appeals to you.

Starting out by working any job in a busy marina, you will have plenty of opportunity to meet boat owners and be around boats. You could sell fuel or supplies from the ships chandlery or work in the trim shop. You might also work in the restaurant or kiosk. Honing your sales skills could take you far towards boat sales positions or in gaining work in marinas around the world.

As you gain experience with boats and marinas, you could find yourself selling permanent berths or swing moorings, or liaising with boat owners and marine brokers over boat sales. From here, you could move into management or even start your own company.
