Some larger vessels need repair work that can only be done underwater by divers. If you love diving and boats, you could work for a contract commercial diving company as a member of a dive team making underwater inspections and repairs.

You will rely on your visual and video inspection skills to check for corrosion or damage and to determine what repairs are needed. You will be cleaning hulls, utilising hand tools, grit-blasting, water-blasting or making wet welding repairs.

You will use specialized compounds such as cementitious and epoxy grouts to make structural repairs.

For many divers, commercial diving in the marine industries offers a well paid way to see the world — underwater!
