The rigging is as vital for a sailboat as the engine to a motorboat. The precise science of rigging and Sailmaking has become something of an art form, particularly on maxi yachts and ocean racers.

As a rigger, you will install and tune the rigging of racing yachts, custom make spars, beach dollies and trailers, and modify or custom make fittings. You might overhaul as maxi-yacht spar one day and be inspecting rigging on a cruiser the next.

A rigger’s life is rope and wire. You will make wire fabrications for lifelines and install various types of balustrades. You will be able to splice almost any type and size of rope, including eye splicing, rope-to-rope, rope to wire and rope tapering.

Your accuracy and attention to detail of your work will be critical to the performance and safety of any sailboat you work on.
